2008 Junior Golf League (also see our Junior Golf Camp)

Greenhaven Golf Club will present a Junior Golf League during the 2008 golf season. The goal of the league is to provide a fun and competitive set of events for the junior golfer who wants more out of the game. We will be introducing players to some basic formats, golf rules, etiquette, and an understanding and appreciation for competitive golf.

The league will consist of 10 weekly events on Wednesday mornings starting at 7:30 am. It will run from June 11th through August 6th with a concluding junior tournament on August 13th (Dates are subject to change).

Weekly Registration:
Parents or league players will be responsible for calling the golf shop by 3:00 pm Tuesday afternoon to sign up for that Wednesday's event. Special requests for playing partners can be made, but due to some formats players may be mixed and matched.

Play:
Play each week will begin promptly at 7:30 am. Please arrive 20 minutes early for your hole assignment and the format of the day. Immediately following play winners will be announced.

Awards:
Each week prizes will be awarded to the top finishers as well as the winners of the proximity events. (closest to the pin, long putt, etc.) Weekly winners will gain points toward season-end prizes.

Cost:
There is a $60.00 registration fee for parents with one child, $100 for parents with two children, and $45 per child with parents with three or more children. The registration fee covers the junior's golf handicap; season ending awards and banquet ceremony, weekly prizes, and year-end prizes. The green fee each week is $11.00 + tax.

The league is open to members and non-members,
boys and girls ages 7 to 17.

2008 Junior Golf Camp

Greenhaven Golf Club will present two Junior Golf Camps during the 2008 golf season. The goal of the camps is to provide a fun and educational series of golf lessons for the junior golfer who wants to learn more about the game. We will be introducing players to the basic swing, golf rules, etiquette, and an understanding and appreciation for the basics of putting, chipping, and the full swing. Each day of camp will last approximately 55 minutes with the last day of camp devoted to games and awards.

What Will Be Covered:

• Every golf camp will begin with a one-day etiquette and rules session for all students.

• The second day camp will cover putting and chipping. The clubs needed for these will be a putter and a 9-iron or Pitching Wedge. If you do not have a club to use, please let my staff or myself know the day of registration.

• The third we will be teaching how to hit irons on the driving range. This day is especially important because of the safety of the students. Please ensure that your children are aware of the potential dangers of walking in front or behind of others students swinging. The club needed for this class are a 5, 6, or 7 iron.

• The last day, and the most fun for students, is the day we have them hit their woods. After the final class, food and soft drinks will be available for all students.

• Deadline for season-long junior league is on Tuesday, June 10th

• League runs from Wednesday, June 11th until Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

The session will start at 8:00 a.m. on Monday and go through Friday. If the first sessions fills up, there will be another session starting immediately following at 9:00 a.m.
